Gaborone, 15 October 2019 – Compuscan Academy and the BIBF (Botswana Institute of Banking and Finance) hosted a launch on the 9th of October to mark the beginning of a partnership in offering credit management courses and financial training to the workforce in Botswana.

Compuscan Academy and the BIBF have adapted and localised the highly successful credit and debt recovery training programmes from South Africa, in an effort to bring Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) accredited training to the Botswana market.

Compuscan Academy and the BIBF bring financial education to Botswana

The BIBF identified 14 of Compuscan Academy’s highly successful credit management, fraud and debt recovery training programmes as the most pertinent for the country. These highly sought-after courses have been adapted and localised by the academy to suit to the Botswana financial sector, after which they soon received accreditation from the BQA.

The BIBF, having recently transformed and rebranded from the Botswana Institute of Bankers (BIOB), is a member driven institute with banks, including the Central Bank, constituting its corporate membership. Individual membership includes ordinary members – local banking sector employees who are studying or have studied with the institute, and affiliate members – students who are not working or have not worked in banking. BIBF is accredited with the BQA as a training provider and provides banking and financial service-related training and education.

Compuscan Academy, a subsidiary of Experian, is a specialised credit academy that offers training programmes to address the skills requirements of companies in the credit and financial services industries, at all stages of the consumer credit life cycle. Compuscan Academy is passionate about education and providing learners and employees in the financial sectors with the tools they need to succeed. Their offerings include credit management courses, learnerships, fraud, debt recovery, debt counselling, leadership, bookkeeping, and compliance.

In Botswana, Compuscan has been operating since 2000 offering credit bureau services to the microlending sector as well as tracing services to the debt recovery entities. As part of business growth, Compuscan Botswana expanded their service offering to the retail stores, purchase order finance entities and most recently the banking industry.
